Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army)

The Azad Hind Fauj, or Indian National Army (INA), was formed during World War II with the aim of freeing India from British colonial rule. Led by Subhas Chandra Bose, the INA recruited Indians living in Southeast Asia and received support from Japan. The army sought to mobilize the Indian populace and promote independence through armed struggle. Although the INA faced challenges and was eventually defeated, its efforts inspired nationalistic sentiments and contributed significantly to the Indian independence movement, eventually leading to India gaining independence in 1947.
