Athena Parthenos

Athena Parthenos is a famous statue of the ancient Greek goddess Athena, created by the sculptor Phidias around 447-432 BCE. The name "Parthenos" means "virgin," reflecting Athena's role as a protector of cities and a deity of wisdom and warfare. The statue, housed in the Parthenon on the Acropolis of Athens, stood about 12 meters tall and was made of gold and ivory. Athena Parthenos represented both the values of the city of Athens and the artistic achievements of ancient Greece, symbolizing strength, justice, and civic pride.
