At-Will Employment
At-will employment is a type of job arrangement where either the employer or the employee can end the employment relationship at any time, for any legal reason, or even no reason at all, without prior notice. This means that an employer can terminate an employee without cause, and conversely, an employee can resign without needing to provide justification. However, there are exceptions, such as anti-discrimination laws and breach of contract situations, which protect employees from being fired for certain unlawful reasons. This flexibility can benefit both parties, but it also means job security can be limited.
