Astrobiological Research

Astrobiological research investigates the potential for life beyond Earth and aims to understand the origin, evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe. Scientists study extreme environments on Earth, like deep oceans and acidic lakes, to learn how life can thrive in harsh conditions. They also explore other planets and moons, such as Mars or Europa, to identify signs of past or present life. This field combines elements of biology, chemistry, geology, and astronomy to answer fundamental questions about whether we are alone in the universe and what forms extraterrestrial life might take.
