ARF-GEF (guanine nucleotide exchange factors)

ARF-GEFs, or Adaptor Protein Regulated Factor Guanine Nucleotide Exchange Factors, are proteins that play a key role in cellular signaling. They help regulate the activity of ARF proteins, which are important for various processes, including the transport of molecules within cells and the formation of membrane structures. By facilitating the exchange of GDP for GTP on ARF proteins, ARF-GEFs activate them, allowing cells to respond to different signals and maintain their functions. Essentially, ARF-GEFs act as switches that help control important cellular activities.
