Archduke Karl

Archduke Karl of Austria (1887–1922) was a member of the Habsburg dynasty and the last Emperor of Austria. He reigned during World War I, advocating for peace and reform in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Despite his efforts, the empire collapsed following the war, leading to his eventual exile. Karl sought to restore his throne but was unsuccessful. He is remembered for his attempts to mediate peace during the conflict and is commemorated as a beatified figure in the Catholic Church. His legacy reflects themes of leadership, monarchy, and the tumultuous changes in Europe during the early 20th century.
