Arakshan (Reservation)

Arakshan, or reservation, refers to a system in India that allocates a certain percentage of seats in government jobs and educational institutions to specific groups, particularly those from historically disadvantaged communities, such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). The aim is to promote social equity and provide these groups with better opportunities to compete, thereby addressing past injustices and discrimination. While it seeks to uplift marginalized sections of society, it also generates debate regarding its impact on meritocracy and fairness in access to opportunities.
