
Jotirao Phule
Jotirao Phule (1827-1890) was a pioneering social reformer in India, known for his efforts to improve education and uplift marginalized communities, especially women and lower castes. He founded the first girls' school in Pune in 1848 and championed the rights of the untouchables. Phule criticized the caste system and advocated for social equality, promoting the idea that education was the key to empowerment.
