SC (Scheduled Castes)

Scheduled Castes (SCs) are groups recognized by the Indian government as historically disadvantaged due to caste-based discrimination and social exclusion. To promote social equality, these communities are given special protections and affirmative action, such as reservations in education, jobs, and politics. The term "Scheduled" refers to their listing in government schedules (official lists). SCs have faced long-standing social inequalities, and these measures aim to empower and uplift their socio-economic status. Globally, similar concepts exist to address marginalized communities historically subjected to discrimination and unequal treatment.
