Arachne

Arachne is a figure from Greek mythology, known for her exceptional weaving skills. According to the myth, she was a talented mortal who boasted that she could weave better than the goddess Athena. Angered by her arrogance, Athena challenged Arachne to a contest. While Arachne's tapestry was flawless and depicted gods in unflattering ways, Athena’s work was magnificent. Ultimately, Athena destroyed Arachne's tapestry in anger. In despair, Arachne hanged herself, but Athena transformed her into a spider, allowing her to weave for eternity. Arachne symbolizes the themes of hubris, artistic excellence, and the sometimes dangerous dynamics between mortals and gods.
