Apollo asteroids

Apollo asteroids are a group of near-Earth asteroids that have orbits crossing that of the Earth. Named after the first such asteroid discovered (Apollo 1862), they typically have semi-major axes larger than Earth's but can get close to our planet during their orbits. These asteroids are of particular interest to scientists due to their potential for future exploration and the possibility that one could one day pose a collision threat to Earth.
