AODV (Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector)

AODV, or Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector, is a routing protocol used in wireless networks where devices connect spontaneously without a fixed infrastructure. It establishes routes between devices only when needed, minimizing overhead. When a device wants to communicate with another, it broadcasts a route request. If the destination is found, a response provides the best path. This on-demand approach helps efficiently manage network resources, making AODV suitable for mobile ad hoc networks like those used in emergency situations or temporary events, where the network topology frequently changes.
