Mobile ad hoc networks
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are decentralized wireless networks where devices, such as smartphones or laptops, connect directly to each other without relying on fixed infrastructure like cell towers or routers. Each device, or node, dynamically joins and leaves the network, forwarding data for others as needed. This flexibility makes MANETs useful in scenarios like disaster recovery, military operations, or remote areas, where traditional networks might be unavailable. They operate collaboratively, using each device to relay information, ensuring connectivity even in challenging or changing environments.
