Ancient Persian religions
Ancient Persian religions, primarily Zoroastrianism, centered around the worship of Ahura Mazda, the supreme god representing truth and light. Followers believed in a cosmic struggle between good and evil, embodied by Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu (the destructive spirit). Key concepts included dualism, judgment after death, and moral responsibility. The religion emphasized living a righteous life, with core tenets like good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. Zoroastrianism significantly influenced later religions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, shaping ideas about heaven, hell, and the ethical dimensions of life. Other pre-Zoroastrian beliefs included nature worship and polytheism.
