AIDS
AIDS, or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, is a serious medical condition caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). HIV attacks the immune system, weakening the body’s ability to fight off infections and diseases. If left untreated, HIV can progress to AIDS, where the immune system is severely damaged, making the person vulnerable to opportunistic infections and certain cancers. AIDS is not curable, but with proper antiretroviral treatment, individuals with HIV can manage the virus, maintain a healthy life, and reduce the risk of transmission to others. Awareness and prevention are crucial in combating the spread of HIV/AIDS.
