Afterburn Effect
The Afterburn Effect, also known as excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), refers to the increased calorie burn that occurs after an intense workout. When you engage in vigorous exercise, your body continues to use more oxygen and burn calories for several hours afterward, as it works to restore itself to its resting state. This means that even after you finish exercising, your metabolism remains elevated, contributing to additional calorie expenditure. The Afterburn Effect is particularly noticeable after high-intensity interval training (HIIT) or strength training, making these workouts effective for burning fat and improving fitness.
