Adams-Onís Treaty

The Adams-Onís Treaty, signed in 1819, was an agreement between the United States and Spain that settled territorial disputes. It resolved issues regarding Florida, which the U.S. sought to acquire, and defined the boundaries between Spanish territory and what would become the U.S. The treaty resulted in Spain ceding Florida to the U.S. and clarified the border between the U.S. and Spanish territories in the west.
