Seminole Wars

The Seminole Wars were a series of conflicts between the U.S. government and the Seminole people in Florida during the 19th century. The U.S. aimed to remove the Seminole from their lands to expand American territory, leading to multiple battles from 1817 to 1858. The Seminole fought fiercely to resist removal, often using guerrilla tactics and receiving support from escaped slaves. Despite U.S. military efforts, many Seminole remained in Florida, refusing to leave their homeland, making them one of the few Native American groups to effectively resist removal.
