Acute leukemias

Acute leukemias are types of cancer that affect the blood and bone marrow, leading to the rapid production of abnormal white blood cells. These cells do not function properly, which impairs the body’s ability to fight infections and can cause problems with blood clotting. There are two main types: acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), each originating from different blood cell types. Symptoms may include fatigue, frequent infections, and easy bruising. Treatment often involves chemotherapy, and prompt medical attention is crucial for better outcomes.
