ACTH stimulation test
The ACTH Stimulation Test measures how well your adrenal glands respond to adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), which stimulates cortisol production. During the test, a healthcare provider gives you a dose of ACTH, and blood samples are taken before and after the injection to measure cortisol levels. This helps assess adrenal gland function and diagnose conditions like adrenal insufficiency or Cushing's syndrome. A normal response indicates healthy adrenal function, while abnormal results can suggest underlying hormonal issues.
