Zinc plating
Zinc plating is a process where a thin layer of zinc is applied to the surface of a metal object, usually steel. This protective coating helps prevent rust and corrosion by serving as a barrier against moisture and oxygen. Zinc can also sacrifice itself when exposed to elements, protecting the underlying metal. The plating is often achieved through electroplating or hot-dip galvanizing. Zinc-plated items are commonly found in construction, automotive, and household products, enhancing durability and extending the lifespan of various metal components.
