Yitang Zhang

Yitang Zhang is a Chinese-American mathematician known for his groundbreaking work in number theory, particularly on the distribution of prime numbers. In 2013, he made a significant breakthrough by proving that there are infinitely many pairs of prime numbers that differ by a finite number, specifically, he showed that they can differ by 70 million or less. This result, while not resolving the famous "twin prime conjecture," advanced the understanding of prime gaps and demonstrated new techniques in analytic number theory.
