Yavneh

Yavneh is an ancient town in modern-day Israel, significant in Jewish history. After the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE, Yavneh became a center for Jewish learning and leadership. It was here that scholars, including Rabbi Yohanan ben Zakkai, helped shape Judaism as it transformed from a Temple-based religion to one focused on law and community. Yavneh’s influence was critical in preserving Jewish traditions and texts, particularly the Mishnah, which laid the foundation for Rabbinic Judaism. Today, Yavneh stands as a symbol of resilience and adaptation in Jewish history.
