Wilms Tumor

Wilms tumor is a type of kidney cancer that primarily affects children. It develops from immature kidney cells that haven't fully matured. Symptoms may include a painless swelling or mass in the abdomen, abdominal pain, or blood in the urine. The exact cause isn't known, but it often occurs in children aged 3 to 4 years and is more common in those with certain genetic conditions. Treatment usually involves surgery to remove the tumor, often combined with chemotherapy and sometimes radiation therapy. With prompt and appropriate treatment, the prognosis for Wilms tumor is generally very good.
