William III

William III was a Dutch prince who became the King of England, Scotland, and Ireland in 1689 after the Glorious Revolution, which replaced King James II. Known for promoting constitutional monarchy and limiting royal power, he helped establish parliamentary democracy. William also fought against France in several wars to secure European stability. His reign strengthened parliamentary authority and religious tolerance, marking a significant shift in British governance. William’s leadership was key to shaping modern constitutional laws, and he ruled jointly with his wife, Mary II, until her death, after which he continued to govern alone until his own death in 1702.
