Welsh Law

Welsh law refers to the legal system in Wales, which operates within the framework of the United Kingdom. Following devolution in 1999, the Welsh Parliament (Senedd Cymru) gained powers to create laws, known as "Senedd legislation," particularly in areas like health, education, and local government. While some laws are made at the UK level, many matters are governed by Welsh law, reflecting the distinct needs and wishes of the Welsh people. Welsh law emphasizes bilingualism, cultural heritage, and social justice, contributing to Wales's unique legal identity.
