Weather Balloons
Weather balloons are large, inflatable balloons used by meteorologists to collect data about the atmosphere. Typically made of latex or neoprene, they carry instruments called radiosondes that measure temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure as they ascend to high altitudes. As the balloon rises, it expands due to decreasing pressure until it eventually bursts. The collected data is transmitted back to ground stations, helping forecasters predict weather patterns and storms. Weather balloons are essential for understanding the upper atmosphere and improving the accuracy of weather forecasts.
