War of the Roses

The War of the Roses was a series of civil wars in England from 1455 to 1487, fought between two noble houses: the Lancasters (symbolized by a red rose) and the Yorks (symbolized by a white rose). The conflict arose over disputes for the English throne, leading to shifting alliances and several battles. Key figures included King Henry VI, from the Lancaster line, and Edward IV, from the York line. The war ended with the rise of the Tudor dynasty after Henry Tudor (Henry VII) defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485, uniting the two houses through marriage.
