Vishaka Guidelines

The Vishaka Guidelines are a set of legal directives established by the Supreme Court of India in 1997 to address sexual harassment at the workplace. Named after a case involving a woman named Vishaka, these guidelines require employers to create a safe working environment free from harassment. They mandate the establishment of Internal Complaints Committees to investigate complaints, implement prevention policies, and ensure employees are aware of their rights. The guidelines emphasize the importance of both prevention and redressal, aiming to protect women's dignity and equality in the workplace. Later, these guidelines formed the basis for the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013.
