Virtual Colonoscopy

Virtual colonoscopy, also known as CT colonography, is a medical procedure that uses advanced imaging technology, specifically computed tomography (CT), to create detailed, 3D images of the colon and rectum. Unlike traditional colonoscopy, which involves inserting a scope into the patient's body, virtual colonoscopy is non-invasive. Patients typically undergo a preparation process to clear the bowel, and then they lie on a table while a CT scanner takes images. This method helps doctors detect abnormalities, such as polyps or signs of colon cancer, and is often preferred for its comfort and efficiency. However, if issues are found, a traditional colonoscopy may still be necessary for further examination.
