colonoscopy techniques
Colonoscopy is a medical procedure used to examine the inner lining of the colon (large intestine) for abnormalities, like polyps or cancer. A doctor inserts a long, flexible tube called a colonoscope, equipped with a camera, through the rectum. The tube is gently guided through the colon while the doctor watches the images on a screen. The procedure typically requires sedation for comfort. Preparation involves clearing the bowels, usually through a special diet and laxatives. Colonoscopy can also allow for tissue samples to be taken or polyps to be removed during the examination, aiding in prevention and early detection of colorectal issues.
