Villa's Expedition

Villa's Expedition refers to the military campaign led by Mexican revolutionary leader Pancho Villa in 1916. Frustrated by U.S. support for the Mexican government and the lack of recognition for his revolutionary efforts, Villa famously raided the town of Columbus, New Mexico. This attack aimed to retaliate against the U.S. and draw attention to his cause. In response, President Woodrow Wilson sent General John J. Pershing and troops into Mexico to capture Villa, marking a significant moment in U.S.-Mexico relations and illustrating the tensions between revolution and American intervention during this tumultuous period.
