Vascular (Stroke) Neurology

Vascular neurology is a branch of neurology focused on disorders related to blood vessels in the brain, primarily strokes. A stroke occurs when blood flow to a part of the brain is interrupted, leading to brain cell damage. Vascular neurologists diagnose and treat conditions like ischemic strokes (due to blocked arteries) and hemorrhagic strokes (due to bleeding). They also manage risk factors such as high blood pressure and diabetes to prevent strokes. Their goal is to improve patient outcomes through timely intervention, rehabilitation, and education on reducing stroke risk.
