Vajrayana Buddhism
Vajrayana Buddhism, often called Tibetan Buddhism, is a branch of Buddhism that emphasizes direct experience and the use of rituals, chants, and meditation to achieve enlightenment. It incorporates elements of earlier Buddhist traditions but adds unique practices such as tantra, which focuses on transforming ordinary experiences into spiritual ones. Visualizations of deities, use of mantras, and empowerment from teachers (lamas) are key components. It teaches that enlightenment can be achieved in a single lifetime through dedicated practice, often within a rich cultural context that includes art, music, and philosophy, making it distinct yet interconnected with other Buddhist paths.
