
Ustad Vilayat Khan
Ustad Vilayat Khan was a renowned Indian sitar virtuoso and composer, celebrated for his deep understanding of classical Indian music, particularly the gharana (style) of music known as the Imdadkhani gharana. Born in 1928, he was part of a legendary musical family and became an influential figure in promoting classical music both in India and internationally. Known for his innovative techniques and emotional expressiveness, Khan's contributions extended beyond performance to teaching and composing. He played a significant role in popularizing the sitar, making it accessible to diverse audiences while maintaining its traditional roots. Khan passed away in 2004.
