Uric Acid Stones
Uric acid stones are a type of kidney stone formed when uric acid, a waste product from the body's breakdown of purines (found in certain foods and drinks), becomes concentrated in urine. If the urine is too acidic or not diluted enough, uric acid can crystallize and form stones. These stones can cause pain, urinary obstruction, and may be associated with conditions like gout or high purine intake. Treatment often involves drinking plenty of fluids, reducing intake of purine-rich foods, and medications to lower uric acid levels, preventing new stones from forming.
