Ultraviolet (UV) light
Ultraviolet (UV) light is a type of electromagnetic radiation just beyond the visible spectrum, meaning we can't see it with our eyes. It has higher energy than visible light, which enables it to cause chemical reactions, such as tanning skin or sterilizing surfaces. UV light is naturally emitted by the sun and has different wavelengths: UVA, UVB, and UVC, each with varying effects. While it is useful for purposes like sterilization and fluorescent lighting, overexposure can damage skin and eyes. Sunscreen and protective clothing help shield us from harmful UV radiation.
