tropospheric ozone

Tropospheric ozone is a form of ozone found in the lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere, where we live and breathe. Unlike the protective ozone layer high above us that shields us from harmful ultraviolet radiation, tropospheric ozone is a pollutant formed when sunlight reacts with pollutants from vehicles, factories, and other sources. It can cause respiratory problems, aggravate asthma, and harm the environment. While ozone is beneficial in the stratosphere, at ground level, it poses health risks and contributes to smog, making air quality a key concern for public health and environmental policies.
