Tropic of Cancer

The Tropic of Cancer is an imaginary line located at approximately 23.5 degrees north of the equator. It marks the northernmost point where the sun can be directly overhead at noon during the summer solstice, around June 21. This line is significant in geography and climate, as areas near it typically experience a warm, tropical climate. The Tropic of Cancer also plays a role in defining Earth's climatic zones and is one of the key latitudes used in navigation and cartography. It is opposite the Tropic of Capricorn, which is situated at the same angle to the south.
