Treatment Options for Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome

Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) is a severe form of epilepsy that usually begins in childhood. Treatment options include medications such as valproate, lamotrigine, and clobazam, which help control seizures. Some patients may benefit from a ketogenic diet, which is high in fats and low in carbohydrates, potentially reducing seizures. In cases that don’t respond to medication, surgical options like removing the area of the brain causing seizures or implanting a device to stimulate the brain may be considered. Supportive therapies, including behavioral therapy and education support, are also important for managing LGS.
