Tirthankara
A Tirthankara is a revered spiritual teacher in Jainism who has achieved perfect enlightenment and liberated themselves from the cycle of birth and death (samsara). They serve as guides, helping others on the path toward spiritual liberation by exemplifying ideal virtues like truth, non-violence, and self-control. Tirthankaras establish and promote spiritual teachings, temples, and practices that support practitioners' growth. Traditionally, there are 24 Tirthankaras in each time cycle, with Mahavira being the most recent. Their lives and teachings inspire followers to pursue ethical living and spiritual awakening.
