Time zones

Time zones are regions of the Earth that have the same standard time. They were created to account for the way the Earth rotates and to coordinate time across different areas. The planet is divided into 24 time zones, each generally 15 degrees of longitude apart. This means that as you move east or west, local time changes. The prime meridian in Greenwich, England, is the reference point (0° longitude). Time zones help manage schedules for activities like travel and communication, considering that it can be daytime in one place while it’s night in another.
