The Wow! Signal

The Wow! Signal is a strong radio signal detected in 1977 by astronomer Jerry R. Ehman while working on a SETI project at Ohio State University. It lasted 72 seconds and came from the direction of the Sagittarius constellation, resembling a signal that could be of extraterrestrial origin. The signal was unusual because it had the characteristics expected from a communication signal, and its source has never been conclusively identified. Despite numerous follow-ups, the Wow!
