The Working Memory Model

The Working Memory Model, proposed by Alan Baddeley and Graham Hitch, describes how we temporarily hold and manipulate information during tasks such as reasoning or learning. It consists of three main parts: the central executive, which directs attention; the phonological loop, which processes verbal and auditory information, and the visuo-spatial sketchpad, which handles visual and spatial tasks. Together, these components allow us to juggle different pieces of information in our mind, facilitating problem-solving and understanding while we engage with complex tasks.
