Baddeley's Working Memory Model
Baddeley's Working Memory Model explains how we temporarily hold and manipulate information in our minds. It comprises three main components: the central executive, which directs attention; the phonological loop, which deals with verbal information; and the visuospatial sketchpad, which handles visual and spatial data. A fourth element, the episodic buffer, integrates information from different sources. This model helps us understand how we solve problems, learn, and remember by organizing and processing information in real-time, emphasizing that working memory is crucial for complex cognitive tasks.
