The Sun's Atmosphere

The Sun's atmosphere consists of several layers, primarily the photosphere, chromosphere, and corona. The photosphere is the visible surface we see, emitting light and heat. Above it lies the chromosphere, a thin layer where temperatures rise, and solar phenomena like solar flares occur. The outermost layer, the corona, extends millions of kilometers into space, noticeable during a solar eclipse as a halo. Despite being extremely hot, the corona is less dense than the layers below. This atmosphere plays a crucial role in solar activity and influences space weather affecting Earth.
