The Hanoverians
The Hanoverians were a royal family that ruled Britain from 1714 to 1901. Originating from Hanover, Germany, they came to power after the last Stuart monarch, Queen Anne, died without a direct heir. The first Hanoverian king was George I. This dynasty played a significant role in shaping modern Britain, overseeing important events like the unification of the Kingdom of Great Britain and the expansion of the British Empire. The last Hanoverian ruler, Queen Victoria, marked a period of industrial progress and empire, after which the monarchy transitioned to the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
