George I of Great Britain

George I of Great Britain was the first British monarch from the House of Hanover, reigning from 1714 until his death in 1727. Born in Germany, he became king after the Act of Union united England and Scotland into Great Britain. His reign marked the beginning of constitutional monarchy in Britain, where real political power shifted from the king to Parliament. Although he was less involved in day-to-day governance, his ascension strengthened ties with other European nations, and his reign laid groundwork for modern British parliamentary democracy.
