The Greenhouse Effect

The greenhouse effect is a natural process where certain gases in Earth's atmosphere trap heat from the sun. When sunlight reaches the Earth, some energy is absorbed, warming the planet, while some is reflected back into space. Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide and methane, act like a blanket, holding in this heat and keeping the Earth warm enough to sustain life. However, human activities, such as burning fossil fuels, are increasing the concentration of these gases, leading to an enhanced greenhouse effect, which contributes to global warming and climate change.
