The Great Game

The Great Game was a political and strategic rivalry mainly between Britain and Russia during the 19th and early 20th centuries, focused on gaining influence in Central Asia. Both empires aimed to secure their borders, access valuable resources, and prevent the other from expanding. This competition involved espionage, alliances, territorial negotiations, and sometimes military action, shaping regional geopolitics. It was driven by the desire to control vital trade routes like the Silk Road and access to India, then Britain's most prized colony. Although largely diplomatic, it created tension and instability, influencing international relations in that era.
